Chairman's Message

I’m delighted to be chairing this year’s Pacific Future Forum which will be hosted on the HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Indo-Pacific. The Forum will build on the great success of previous years, and once again focus on deepening and strengthening public and private partnerships to tackle some of the world’s greatest challenges.

2021 is a significant moment for the Forum as it marks the 80th anniversary of the Atlantic Charter signed by President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill in 1941. As I said at last year’s Forum, there is and remains a critical role for the Western Alliance. Indeed it is essential if the world is to be stable, secure and prosperous. This year, to reflect our increasingly interdependent and globalised world, we are broadening the scope of the alliance to include likeminded, democratic nations in the Indo-Pacific.

We look forward to once again convening senior decision makers, distinguished thought leaders, high-ranking representatives from industry, and of course our all-important strategic partners, to discuss the future of our alliances and institutions in a more complex and changing world.
I look forward to getting started!
